[ARCHIVED] Canton Leisure Services to Collect Care Package Donations For U.S. Troops

Collect items and donations that will go directly toward care packages for deployed Military Troops and Wounded Soldiers recovering from injuries away from home.

Items and donations will be collected during the Canton Liberty Fest from June 16-18, 2016 in Heritage Park on festival grounds at the Liberty Fest 25th Anniversary Tent, located next to Information Booth One. A coordinated letter-writing effort will also take place in the tent, where guests of all ages are encouraged to submit messages of support and encouragement by filling out bank post cards.

Donations and notes of support will also be collected in the lobby of the Summit on the Park, located at 46000 Summit Parkway in Canton, MI from June 16 through July 31, 2016. Additionally, campers at all Canton Leisure Summer Camps will be participating in the letter-writing and package-building parts of this support effort.

Care package items that are currently being accepted include: Personal care items like bug spray, Chapstick, Eye Drops, and Disposable Razors; Travel Games, Batteries, Sports Equipment, Blankets, DVD’s and CD’s (new or used), Zip Lock Bags (all sizes), Greeting Cards (all occasion), Individualized snack items like Instant Oatmeal, Granola Bars, Little Debbie Snacks, Microwave Popcorn, and Beef Jerky; and Clothing items like Hats, Scarves, Gloves, and Scarves (black, brown, or green).

Operation Care Package Michigan is a non-profit organization of volunteers whose mission is to provide support to our deployed members of the United States Military and wounded soldiers by sending care packages and letters of encouragement. All proceeds collected during this and all Operation Care Package Michigan donation drives go directly toward care packages.
