[ARCHIVED] A Celebration of Michigan Wine and Food Series Planned at the Summit

“A Celebration of Michigan Wine and Food” will feature demonstration, education and samples from local chefs, as well as wine experts from Canton’s own Holiday Market.

The series will kick off September 6, 2014, when Chef Lee Ulrich of Joe’s Produce will prepare and pair selected local harvest food dishes with Michigan hard ciders. The series will continue November 22 with a focus on local red wines and will conclude on December 13 with a spotlight on Michigan white and dessert wines. These events present a unique opportunity to learn about more ways to shop for and enjoy local products and ingredients. Participants are encouraged to sign up for one, two or all three of the Michigan Wine and Food celebrations.

“We hope folks will join us as we explore and celebrate the fabulous wine and food selections we have to offer in Michigan!” Enrichment Coordinator Gary Marks said. “Our local chefs and wine experts will combine their talents to educate and entice you with samples and recipes from local growers and Michigan wineries.”

The classes will be put on in conjunction with Holiday Market, as the Michigan hard ciders, wines and ingredients to be featured in the events are items available for purchase at the market.

Each of the three classes will take place from 7-9 p.m. and they are open to adults 21 years of age and over. The cost to attend each event is $38 for Summit members, $42 for Canton residents and $55 for non-residents. Any participant, resident or non-resident, that signs up for all three events at once will qualify for a discounted rate of $90 total, and will receive a complimentary commemorative wine glass.
