[ARCHIVED] Canton Leisure Services To Host Family Field Day & Movie In The Park

This fun event is scheduled to take place on Friday, August 7 starting a 7 p.m., in Heritage Park, located east of Canton Center Road between Cherry Hill and Palmer Roads.

Featured activities include classic favorites, such as: potato sack races, shoe kicks, and a challenging new inflatable obstacle course. Prizes will also be awarded and participants can enter for a chance to win a new bike, courtesy of Schoolhouse Montessori Academy.

“We’re hoping that folks round up the family and neighbors and make their way down to the north side of Heritage Park for some friendly competition and summer-time fun,” said Laura Mortier, Canton Recreation Specialist. “The success of this Field Day will not be determined by the number of people who show up, but by the unexpected fun and lasting memories participants will experience while taking part in this special outdoor health and wellness activity and movie in the park.”

This is a great photo opportunity, so participants are reminded to bring a camera. No pre-registration is required. The $10 per family fee can be paid on-site. This event is open to the public and all ages are encouraged to attend, even grandparents.

Following the Family Field Day events, a special showing of Disney’s animated movie “Frozen” (rated PG) will be held outside in the park on the big screen starting at dusk. Food, snacks, and popcorn will also be available for purchase on site. Individuals who are not able to attend the Family Field Day activities are still encouraged to attend the free movie.
