Stop by the Cherry Hill Village District, located at the corner of Cherry Hill and Ridge Roads, from 5-8 p.m. and enjoy activities for all ages, including: live music featuring local artists, such as Meg Nye, Oakland County Brassworks, and Ryan Brake; tasty Food Truck fare from Smokey Rhodes BBQ, The Rolling Stoves, Shimmy Shack, The Mean Weenie, Hero or Villain, Delectabowl, Time2Chill Detroit Gelato Truck and more (while supplies last). A bouncer and lawn games will also be available on the lawn of the Cherry Hill School, located at 50440 Cherry Hill Road. Plus, event-goers can decorate a reusable canvas tote bag for just $4 per bag, inside the Cherry Hill School House. Then, use your bag during future visits to the Farmers Market as an eco-friendly way to carry home your Market goods. Bags are limited, so get there early.
New this year! Ridge Road will be closed between Cherry Hill and Presidential to create a larger dining area while helping to ensure pedestrian safety, as trucks will be parked on both sides of Ridge Road. For those event-goers who plan to stay for the live music, we encourage bringing a lawn chair.
"Last year’s event was such a success that we’re looking forward to bringing back this festive summer event where folks can meet their neighbors, family and friends, and enjoy tasty local food options while listening to live music by area musicians," said Market Manager Tina Lloyd. "As we increase awareness of the Canton Farmers Market, we encourage everyone to take the time to get to know their food source by getting to know their local farmers and food producers. Market guests are encouraged to talk with the actual growers, bakers, food producers, chefs and farmers to find out how their food is grown and prepared."
A portion of the proceeds collected during this special family-friendly fundraiser will benefit the Canton Farmers Market, which is currently celebrating its eighth season. With the recent influx in “buy local” initiatives, the Canton Farmers Market is seeing an increase in both the number of participating growers and in customers. As such, the market continues to expand its offerings during Market hours, which are held every Sunday, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. now through October 18, 2015.
The public is encouraged to attend this open-air market in Preservation Park, located at 500 N. Ridge. No admission is required to enter market grounds.
