DIA Art Walk Spotlight

Experience an exhilarating morning of art on Saturday, October 8, 2022, as Canton Leisure Services and the Detroit Institute of Arts join forces to offer an unparalleled arts experience visiting three of the high-quality reproductions from the DIA’s collection that are currently on display outdoors in Cherry Hill Village this fall.

This free event from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. will start the morning off with a cider and donuts at the Preservation Park Pavilion, located at 500 N. Ridge Road.  Next, a Detroit Institute of Arts docent will lead the walking group to three DIA reproductions, including:

  • “Rounded Flower Bed” by Claude Monet on display at Preservation Park, located at 500 N. Ridge Road.
  • “Talking Oak” by William Maw Egley on display at the Cherry Hill Fountain Square, located at the intersection of Cherry Hill Road and Independence Road
  • “Love Flight of a Pink Candy Heart” by Florine Stettheimer on display at The Village Arts Factory, located at 50755 Cherry Hill Road

If you still haven’t had your fill of art and culture, participants will also visit the Village Arts Factory for a short tour to learn about this multipurpose studio space located in the heart of Canton, Michigan, where artists, designers, teachers, and community leaders can gather to collaborate, create, and display their works.

Participants will finish off their morning art experience at the Gallery at Cherry inside The Village Theater at Cherry Hill, where they’ll enjoy the 28th Annual Fine Arts Exhibition and vote for the People’s Choice award.

This event is FREE and open to the public. Pre-registration is required. In the event of rain, the event will be held on Saturday, October 22. Register online at www.cantonfun.org/register with code: VT1008 or call 734/394-5300 x 1305.
