Entries Now Being Accepted for 28th Annual Canton Fine Arts Exhibition Through August 31st

The Gallery at Cherry Hill is now accepting entries for the 28th Annual Canton Fine Arts Exhibition, which will be on display October 4-30, 2022.  Entries for this distinguished exhibition are currently being accepted through August 31, 2022.  Michigan artists are encouraged to enter online at www.cantonvillagetheater.org

“We’re thrilled to be able to bring back the Canton Fine Arts Exhibition this year to provide a unique opportunity for Michigan artists to publicly display their works and reach a large audience in the Canton community,” said Canton Performing Arts Coordinator Ben Frick. “This exhibition draws works from both emerging and well-established artists and showcases a broad range of artistic styles and interpretations.” 

All media is accepted for this outstanding exhibition. Only digital image files will be accepted for review online at www.cantonvillagetheater.org. Paintings and hangings should not exceed five feet wide or six feet high, 40 pounds in weight and must be properly and appropriately framed and prepared for hanging. Sculpture dimensions must not exceed 5’ x 5’ x 6’ and 200 pounds in weight. Original works of art must have been completed in the last three years. A non-refundable entry fee of $20 for each submitted piece is required. 

The competition will award $1,950 in cash prizes: Best of Show $750; Second Place $500; Third Place $300; two Honorable Mentions of $100 each; and four Merit Awards of $50 each. Juried result notification will be emailed by September 12, 2022.

This year’s distinguished juror will be Todd Burroughs, who is the Atelier Art Studio Director in Royal Oak, Michigan. Burroughs is best known for his realist drawings, oil paintings and passion for teaching. He has received numerous awards and honorifics for his paintings. While attending Columbia College Todd was introduced to classical art making techniques and shifted his study from Abstract Expressionism to Classical Painting methods. He completed a five-year program of study in oil painting techniques at the Atelier Alternative in Chicago, and he holds a Cum Laude degree in Historic Preservation and Fine Art from Eastern Michigan University.

A reception will be held for the selected artists on October 13 from 6:30-9:00 p.m., with a special program starting at 7:30 p.m. The Village Theater has exhibition hours throughout the year (except for major holidays), Monday - Tuesday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Thursday-Friday from 4-8 p.m., by appointment, and during all public performances. The exhibition is free and open to the public. 

The Gallery at Cherry Hill is located within The Village Theater, at 50400 Cherry Hill Road, Canton, MI  48187.   This regional center for the arts offers the magic of live theatre, soul-stirring music, the thrill of the dance, and the enjoyment of fine art exhibitions and events, in addition to providing a home for several cultural organizations and community groups.
