[ARCHIVED] Canton Sports Center To Host 'Think Spring Day' and 'Celebrity Snowball Tournament'

This outdoor Snowball tournament will feature a 16-inch, neon softball to make for easier visibility in the snow. Games will be played through most weather and field conditions, so players and spectators are encouraged to dress accordingly. The Canton Sport Center's Snowball 2015 will take place in conjunction with the Think Spring Day Recreation Softball League Registration, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Immediately following the Snowball Tournament, participants can take in the WRIF/Leinenkugel Celebrity Softball Game. WRIF Personalities scheduled to appear include: Anne Carlini; Meltdown; Screamin' Scott; Jade; and Rock Girl Ashley. Additional local media personalities also scheduled to appear include: former Detroit Red Wing Darren McCarty; former NFL Placekicker Pete Stovanovich; Former Washington Capital Pat Peake; Former University of Michigan Football Safety Marcus Ray; Local 4 WDIV Ashlee Baracy; Fox 2 Rob Wolchek; Fox 2 Amy Andrews; Fox 2 Taryn Asher; Ryan Ermanni; and Rico Beard.

Everyone is welcome to come cheer on the competitors during this FREE event at Canton Sports Center, located at 46555. W. Michigan Avenue in Canton, MI, 48188.

"The Canton Sports Center is happy to continue its long-standing tradition of hosting this annual Snowball Tournament outside in the elements," said Canton Sports Recreation Coordinator Ann-Marie Carravallah. "We're looking forward to get players energized about our upcoming spring season and this is a good way to put softball on everyone's mind even in the winter."

Interested softball teams must register for Snowball 2015 by Wednesday, February 25, at 4:30 p.m. Register by calling 734/483-5600 or in-person at the Canton Sports Center.

Winning teams will receive sweatshirts, a trophy, plus a chance to play in the WRIF celebrity game.

The first 20 teams signing up for the Spring League on February 28, will receive either $50 off the Session 1 registration fee or a $25 Kickers All-Star Grill gift certificate. Every team registering during Think Spring Day event will receive $100 off of Session II registration fee.
