Now through October 13, 2019, the Market will take place rain or shine each Sunday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. (with the exception of July 7) and will feature a variety of local goods for sale, weekly kids crafts and activities, live entertainment, cooking demonstrations, and even more.
“The Canton Farmers Market staff and vendors are excited to be starting the 2019 regular market season offering great local goods at our weekly Sunday markets,” Canton Farmers Market Coordinator Rob Lindman said. “There are so many benefits to buying locally, especially since you can find out where your food comes from by directly going to its source.”
This year’s summer season will see the return of many favorite vendors as well as some local newcomers to the Market, including Happy Bean Coffee Company and Delitealicious, in addition to several others
Local vendors returning this season will include: Bobilin Honey, Pick Michigan, Spicegrrrl, Kapnick Orchard, Prochaska Farms, among others. Items available for sale on opening day include: seasonal vegetables grown in hoop houses, honey, artisan baked goods, handmade jewelry, and many more.
At the May 12th Market, Bob Skon will be performing music live on the Bartlett-Travis House porch. Special activities include: live music, a kids craft, giveaways for Moms as we celebrate Mother’s Day at the Market. The Master Gardener volunteers return with information on seed starting and kids can enjoy jumping in the free bouncer onsite, as well as planting a sunflower seed to take home. In addition, Chicken Coupe Chicken & Waffles food truck will be onsite selling tasty lunch options.
Upcoming special events include a perennial exchange on both May 19, May 26 and June 2. Canton’s free Bark in the Park event, located a short trail walk away from the Farmers Market at the adjacent Canton Dog Park, will take place on May 19 during the hours of the Farmers Market’s from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Bridge Cards are also accepted at the Canton Farmers Market. Participants may bring their Bridge Card to the Bartlett-Travis House to exchange your SNAP Dollars for Market Tokens, and double the spending on fresh fruits and vegetables with Double Up Food Buck.! The Market also accepts WIC Project Fresh and Senior Project Fresh.
