[ARCHIVED] Plymouth-Canton Educational Park Wind Ensemble to perform special Michigan Music Conference send-off

On May 24, 2018, G. Jonathan Thomann, director of bands at the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park, received an email from the president of the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA), alerting him that the P-CEP Wind Ensemble, the district’s top band ensemble, was selected to participate as one of the featured performing ensembles at the 2019 Michigan Music Conference (MMC) in Grand Rapids on Friday, January 25, 2019. The MMC is attended by more than 9,000 music educators at the K-12, collegiate, and professional levels, and it is an honor to be selected to perform at the conference.

“Our Wind Ensemble had an amazing year in 2018, and the honor of being selected for the Michigan Music Conference was icing on the cake for all of their accomplishments,” said Thomann. “This invitation to perform at MMC in front of a large audience of some of the most talented music educators and students in the state will be an experience they will never forget.”

Thomann gives special recognition to the 2018 graduating seniors that were members of last year’s Wind Ensemble.

“All of our band members, particularly our seniors, played a critical role in helping our band in attaining this honorable invitation,” Thomann added. “All of our graduating seniors came to rehearsal each day prepared and led the ensemble to make music a priority, and went above and beyond to help our band have an extremely successful school year last year. I hope that they are proud of their pursuit of musical excellence and that they know that their legacy will be remembered for years to come.”

The Wind Ensemble will perform a special send-off performance at the Village Theater at Cherry Hill in Canton on January 23, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. Glen Adsit, professor and director of bands at the Hartt School, University of Hartford  will guest conduct with Thomann and Mr. Michael Wells, co-director of the P-CEP Bands.
