Following a punch and cookie reception in the lobby, Canton Township will honor the memory and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a special tribute on the Main Stage at The Village Theater at Cherry Hill in Canton, MI on Monday January 21, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. The Reception is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
This year's keynote address will be presented by Martin Philbert, Ph.D., Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Michigan. The program will also feature a performance by the Dodson Elementary School Choir.
Several special artists will enrich our program and reception with their artworks, including: Alga Washington’s two Paintings of Dr. King - one of which graces our program cover; Photographer Jim Aho with his special MLK Memorial photo; photos taken by Benedict Fernandez (Dr. King’s personal photographer); John Mullinax’s poignant Charcoal Drawing of Dr. King; and Chuck Schroeder’s Pen & Ink Drawing of Dr. King.
Tickets for the event are available at door for $2 per person or $5 per family (cash only). Tickets can be purchased at The Village Theater Box Office one hour prior to event time.
