The Plymouth-Canton Community School (P-CCS) Board recognized Canton Leisure Services at its October 9, 2018, Board Meeting by honoring this Canton Township Department in their “Celebrating Success” agenda item for assisting with the event organization of the 2018 P-CCS Back to School Bash.
P-CCS Board Trustee Kim Crouch recognized Canton Leisure Services for the key role it played in providing Heritage Park as an outdoor venue and for assisting event organizers in the execution of this event this past August, that saw more than 2,000 community members gather in the park to celebrate the beginning of the 2018-19 school year.
“Canton Township is proud to partner with the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools on this type of community-building event and is grateful for the recognition,” said Greg Hohenberger, Director of Canton Leisure Services. “We form these types of collaborations for a variety of reasons, but mostly to provide quality programs that also showcase community resources outside our agency.”
This popular, annual event traditionally provides a variety of student performances and entertainment. In addition, local schools and community groups, clubs, and area resource centers are onsite providing valuable information to position children for success in the coming school year.
Leisure Services staff in attendance at the Plymouth-Canton Community School Board meeting for recognition included: Jennifer Girard, Justin Wagoner, and Abby Robichaud, who were instrumental in the event planning of this outdoor special event.
Canton Leisure Services has been recognized for excellence in the field of parks and recreation management by receiving re-accreditation in 2018 and remains one of only 171 agencies in the country currently holding national accreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA).
