June 12, 2018, Canton, MI – During the month of June, the Canton Public Safety Department is actively encouraging residents to sign up with Nixle, a web-based information system that allows the department to provide subscribers with trusted, pertinent information relating to the Canton community.
Subscribers who sign up for this service will select their preference notification areas, as well as their preferred method of notification—text message or email. Nixle alerts can range from urgent public safety notices to less time-sensitive advisories and community information.
“When an incident occurs that is related to the safety of community members, the department logs into a secure website and enters an alert which is then sent to the subscribers,” says Emergency Management Coordinator William Hayes. “Within minutes we can reach thousands of individuals with a quick message of importance or pertinent information.”
Nixle is a free service to the public; subscribers manage their own profile online and can cancel at any time. Email address and phone numbers are not used for any other purpose.
To subscribe to Nixle, log on to www.cantonpublicsafety.org and click on the Nixle spotlight on the home page, or go to www.nixle.com.
