Canton Leisure Services is proud to once again partner with several non-profit community groups during its 27th Annual Canton Liberty Fest, a popular summertime community celebration. Several area organizations will again participate and give back to the community in this annual celebration, including:
The Canton Firefighters Charity Foundation: This dedicated non-profit group was established in 1995 by Canton Firefighters to support Canton community charities, assist in emergency relief efforts and other worthwhile causes that surface in the community. Each year the Canton Firefighters Charity Foundation hosts a food-related fundraiser. This year, the Canton Firefighters’ #2289 Charity Foundation will host “Box Alarm BBQ,” a gourmet BBQ food truck, on site at the Heritage Park Amphitheater all day on Saturday, June 16, staring at 11 a.m., in place of their annual Spaghetti Dinner. Stop by for a delicious meal for a good cause! For more information about the Canton Firefighters Charity Foundation, visit their website www.cantonfirefighters.org.
The Canton Lions Club: Celebrating 23 years of hosting the Liberty Fest Pancake Breakfast and over 40 years of dedicated service in our community, the Canton Lions Club is a group that comes together and shares a common interest in community service, supporting the Lions motto "We Serve." The clubs exist so that members may pool their skills, talents, and resources for the betterment of the community. Since establishing its charter in 1968, club members have raised and distributed over $200,000 in charitable grants to nonprofit service agencies. Don't miss the Canton Lions Club's 23rd Annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, June 16 from 8 - 11 a.m. (while supplies last) in the Heritage Park Amphitheater. Join in the fun and enjoy a stack of golden pancakes hot off the griddle along with sausage, and Tang, all for just $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 years of age and younger. This year, the Canton Lions will be working with Chris Cakes of Michigan, who will be serving up fun with every order by flipping pancakes high onto plates for those brave enough to catch one. All proceeds will benefit local Lions Club charities. For more information about the Canton Lions Club, visit www.cantonlions.org.
The Rotary Club of Canton: The Rotary Club of Canton was chartered on May 16, 1977 and supports many ongoing projects including the contribution of backpacks to the Plymouth-Canton Clothing bank at the start of each school year for underprivileged students. Rotary International is one of the oldest service organizations and has the motto, "Service Above Self". During Liberty Fest, the Rotary Club will be hosting the Beer and Wine Garden, along with the Plymouth-Canton Optimist Club on: Thursday, June 14 from 4-10 p.m., Friday, June 15 from 4-10 p.m.; and Saturday, June 16 from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. Come cool off with a cold one at its location near the Heritage Amphitheater, where they will be offering a selection of craft beers, wine, and hard ciders. Festival-goers must be 21 years or older to purchase and consume alcohol.
The Plymouth-Canton Optimist Club: Optimist International is a worldwide volunteer organization made up of more than 2,500 local Clubs, whose members work each day to make the future brighter by bringing out the best in children, in their communities, and in themselves.
