[ARCHIVED] Canton’s Village Theater To Exhibit Works By Artist Nick Bair

Evening Playtime By Artist Nick Bair

The Village Theater at Cherry Hill is pleased to exhibit ‘A World of Animals,” featuring over 30 works by Nick Bair on display now through May 29, 2018, in the Gallery@VT.

Nick Bair’s exhibit features some of his favorite animals, such as elephants and rhinoceros, as well as animals that are either very beautiful or endangered.  Bair has experimented with new media such as oil - both alla prima  (wet-into-wet oil) and grisaille (oil paint over a graphite drawing), as well as ink (India and Walnut inks).

Animals are Nick’s inspiration for art – they are more interesting to him than anything else.  Bair tries to capture their strength and energy and enjoys seeing the animals in the wild or in a zoo up close – strong, quiet and beautiful.  Bair’s favorite media remains a mixed media using acrylic paint and colored pencil.  The combination allows him to create in an imaginative yet realistic way showing the depth of color and detail.

Recently accepted to the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI as a part-time art student, Bair also continues his mentorship with illustrator Kirbi Fagan, focusing on utilizing different media and techniques.

Through his artwork, Bair is able to continue to support his community, “…by donating works of art for fundraisers that help babies, children, and adults in need due to health problems or disabilities.  Several prints of my art decorate the new Beaumont Autism Center at the Center for Exceptional Families in Dearborn, Michigan.  I also support efforts to reduce elephant and rhinoceros poaching in Africa by donating to the American Wildlife Foundation.  I have autism.”

This art exhibit at the Gallery@VT is also free and open to the public: Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.; one hour prior to and during public performances at the theater; as well as by appointment by calling 734/394-5300.  The Gallery@VT is closed on holidays.
