The Village Theater at Cherry Hill is pleased to exhibit the unique works of artist Haydar Alyasiry, now through April 28, 2018, in the Gallery VT, located at 50400 Cherry Hill Road in Canton, MI 48187.
Originally from Iraq, Alyasiry’s oil paintings, pastels, and watercolors reflect his passion for his roots and the memories that he has carried with him across continents to his new homeland - America. Over 40 works will be on display in this special exhibit, entitled “Eve for Eternity.”
“Eve is the woman, mother, sister, wife, daughter, friend, it is a country homeland, birthplace, identity, love, life, and support,” stated Alyasiry. “It is my love and respect for a woman; it represents every aspect of life and giving with generosity.”
Alyasiry’s experience in the art world has taken him from curating art exhibitions in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Detroit to teaching art to high school students in Basrah. In addition, Alyasiry has also had extensive experience as a caricaturist for several Iraqi and Arab-American newspapers. His vast skills also include graphic design, salvaging and maintaining archeological items, as well as teaching the history of Arabic and Islamic art.
A special artist’s reception and meet and greet will be held on Monday, April 9, from 7-9 p.m. at The Village Theater at Cherry Hill, that is free and open to the public.
This current art exhibit at the Gallery@VT is free and open to the public: Monday – Friday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., one hour prior to and during public performances at the theater, as well as by appointment.
